China’s 300-meter deepwater jacket put into operation off the coast of Shenzhen
China’s 300-meter deepwater jacket Haiji-1 was put into operation off the coast of Shenzhen on Oct. 3, which will further secure China’s energy supply and help ensure its energy security.
The successful operation of the Asia’s deepest deepwater jacket indicates that China’s design, manufacturing and installation capacity in ultra-large deepwater fixed jackets has reached a world-class level, which can promote the storage and production of offshore oil and gas.
The oil and gas rig, located in the Pearl River Estruary basin off the coast of Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, measures 340.5 meters in total height and 40,000 tonnes in weight.
Jackets are structures pinned to the seafloor to support offshore oil and gas production facilities. Before Haiji-1, China had more than 300 offshore jackets, but all were working in a water depth of fewer than 200 meters.
Built in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, the Haiji-1 will start operation with a daily output of 2,700 tonnes and then increase to 5,000 tonnes upon completion of all oil wells.
