Mayors of Shenzhen and London pledge to deepen cooperation
Shenzhen Mayor Qin Weizhong held a video conference with Lord Mayor of London Vincent Keaveny on May 13.
Qin introduced Shenzhen's socioeconomic and financial development, saying that the city is building itself into a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Qin said Shenzhen hopes to strengthen cooperation with London regarding the economy and trade, finance, science and technology, and talent, to bring tangible benefits to the citizens and seek common development between the two cities.
Keaveny introduced the development of financial and professional services in the United Kingdom. The London mayor said that the City of London would make full use of its advantages and make joint efforts with Shenzhen to promote practical cooperation in fintech, green finance, and green city.
At the meeting, representatives of financial institutions and enterprises from both sides exchanged views on further deepening practical cooperation. The City of London is the first friendly exchange city in Shenzhen. Since the signing of their Memorandum of Cooperation in 2004, the two sides have maintained close cooperation and achieved fruitful results.
