Shenzhen pursues 6% GDP growth in 2022
According to the Shenzhen municipal government work report, Shenzhen set the target of its GDP growth this year at around 6%.
The report said that Shenzhen’s GDP reached 3.07 trillion yuan ($482 billion) in 2021, up 6.7% from that of the previous year.
According to the report, the average per capita disposable income of the residents in Shenzhen exceeded 70,000 yuan, an increase of 8.2% compared with that of 2020; the foreign investment in actual use stood at $10.97 billion, up 26.3% year-on-year.
While introducing the achievements Shenzhen made in its socio-economic development over the past year, Qin said that the city’s high-quality economic development reached a new phase, the reform and opening-up released new vitality, the development impetus realized new enhancements, and the quality of the city reached a new level. As a result, the people’s livelihoods have further improved.
Notably, these achievements were made while the city faced a complicated external development environment and the formidable challenges of the COVID-19 epidemic. It is fair to say that the city has demonstrated resilience in its economy, and the growth last year was of high quality.
Shenzhen will continue to boost the high-quality development of strategic emerging industries, upgrade the service sector, expand investment, smooth the dual-circulation, improve the efficiency of land use, optimize port functions, promote green sustainable development, enhance education, housing, and medical care services, build more public cultural and sports facilities, and deepen cooperation with Hong Kong.
