‘E-sentry’ eases workload of epidemic prevention and control staff
Shenzhen has recently installed “smart COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control guards” in some of its neighborhoods.
Called “e-sentry,” the smart guard is a multifunctional tool that can identify people, scan their health code, measure their temperature, and check their vaccination and nucleic acid testing records.
The whole procedure takes about half a minute if carried out by a person. Now, it only takes a few seconds with the help of the e-sentry.
Developers of the equipment said that the data collected by the smart guard at the terminals will be encrypted and transmitted to the municipal security data management platform, providing data support for early warning detection, flow tracing, and other anti-epidemic work.
Shenzhen said that it will further expand the use of the equipment to shops, schools, hospitals, and other public sites.
