Shenzhen Goldstone Museum of Art achieves national second-class status
On Aug. 23, at the 10th Chinese Exposition of Museums and Relevant Products and Technologies, the Chinese Museums Association announced the fifth batch of national second- and third-class museums. The Goldstone Museum of Art in Shenzhen advanced to a national second-class museum. With this, among the 61 museums in Shenzhen, there is now 1 first-class museum and 2 second-class museums.
Established in September 2016, the Goldstone Museum of Art is a non-profit cultural institution that is open to the public for free. The museum is dedicated to the collection, research, preservation, exhibition, and public education of ancient Chinese stone carving cultural heritage. Its collection currently includes 367 pieces or sets of artifacts, featuring 17 first-grade cultural relics across two sets.
Since its inception, the Goldstone Museum of Art has actively developed a series of social education programs. Among them, the "Bronze & Stone Lecture Series" has been held for nine consecutive years, offering 67 high-quality large-scale public lectures.
In 2019, the museum initiated the Shenzhen Charity Federation — Cultural Heritage Protection Fund. As of March 2024, the fund has supported 10 cultural heritage preservation and museum projects across the city, with total funding amounting to 4.095 million yuan.
