Shenzhen promotes cooperation on renewable energy with Hungary
China's investors have created more than 13,000 job opportunities in Hungary, said Gergely Karbuczky, Deputy CEO and COO of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, during the "Hungarian Renewable Energy Investment Summit and Zero Carbon Planet Summit" in April.
Over the past five years, Hungary and China has collaborated on 33 projects, with investments totaling 8.5 billion yuan.
Shenzhen and Hungary have maintained a strong partnership, with trade volume reaching US$2.6 billion last year. Karbuczky expressed anticipation for deeper collaboration with Shenzhen in the field of new energy.
Shenzhen and Hungary are expanding cooperation in the new energy sector. Last October, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited Shenzhen, inviting Shenzhen companies to establish themselves in Hungary. In April, over 20 energy storage companies from Shenzhen journeyed to Hungary, participating in various cooperative endeavors and forging investment intentions.
Notably, companies like Huawei, BYD, and Kodak have already invested and fostered relationships in Hungary. Shenzhen, a pioneer in China's renewable energy industry, boasts over 4,000 enterprises along the lithium battery industry chain, with a production value exceeding 600 billion yuan in 2022.
The Shenzhen Battery Industry Association has collaborated with leading enterprises to establish the first Lithium Battery Industry Institute in Shenzhen. They've also initiated partnerships with Hungarian vocational education centers to foster talent exchange.
The association has explored collaborations with the EU-China Belt and Road Cultural, Educational, Tourist, and Economic Development Committee. Discussions have centered on international certification of lithium battery skills and standards alignment.
As this year marks the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, Péter Holicza, Deputy Secretary of State for EU Affairs and International Relations at the Hungarian Ministry of Energy, sees boundless opportunities for collaboration, particularly in renewable energy. Already, the Shenzhen Battery Industry Association has inked deals with major European distributors, while Shenzhen-based companies engage in promising negotiations with European counterparts.
This reciprocal exchange bodes well for the future of renewable energy cooperation between China and Hungary, with Shenzhen serving as a pioneering force in this transformative industry.
