Shenzhen tops China for increased number of innovative SMEs in 2023
Shenzhen has emerged as a trailblazer in China's private economic development, leading the nation in the increased number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as indicated by a report on Guangdong's innovative SMEs released by PwC on January 19.
In 2023, Shenzhen added 310 national-level innovative SMEs, surpassing the target of 600 and bringing the total number of such enterprises to 742. During the same year, the overall count of innovative SMEs in Shenzhen exceeded 12,256, with 32 enterprises based in the city being listed either domestically or overseas.
A notable aspect is that over 80% of Shenzhen's innovative SMEs operate in the manufacturing sector, focusing on industries such as computing, telecommunications, and equipment manufacturing.
In recent years, Shenzhen has intensified its efforts to provide preferential policies, financial support, fiscal backing, and innovative services. This strategic approach aims to empower innovative SMEs in the city to develop cutting-edge and high-end technologies, fostering a conducive environment for their growth and success.
