Shenzhen ranks 3rd in China’s innovative talent development: report
The 2023 China Innovative Talents Index, jointly researched and initiated by Shenzhen Talent Group and Research Center for Technological Innovation, Tsinghua University, was released recently at the 2023 Shenzhen Enterprise Innovation Development Conference.
The report reveals that Shenzhen's level of innovation talent development has ranked third across the country for three consecutive years, following Beijing and Shanghai. In terms of the structure of innovation talent, Shenzhen ranks first in the "skill structure" indicator nationwide, with the highest number of R&D personnel per 10,000 people for three consecutive years.
In terms of the effectiveness of innovation talent, Shenzhen ranks first in the country with 234,000 non-invention patent authorizations, and second with 137.9 invention patents per 10,000 people.
Regarding the scale of innovation talent, Shenzhen tops the national list in the "talent introduction and mobility" indicator, with a significant net inflow of population. The number of R&D personnel in Shenzhen has ranked second for the past three years. Additionally, the number of experts with senior professional titles and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering in Shenzhen has steadily increased. Shenzhen has formulated a total of 87 innovation talent policies in the past three years, ranking third in the country.
