Shenzhen tops Chinese cities in industrial output value
Shenzhen’s total industrial output value above the designated size exceeded 4.5 trillion yuan ($666 billion) in 2022, ranking first among all cities in China for four consecutive years, the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality announced on Jan. 29.
The city’s all industrial added value exceeded 1.1 trillion yuan last year, ranking first among all Chinese cities for the first time, according to the bureau.
That means, for the first time, Shenzhen has become a “double No.1” city in terms of total industrial output value above designated size and all industrial added value, solidifying its position as China’s leading industrial city.
Last year, the city prioritized stable growth, strengthened operation management, and made efforts to ensure the stability and smooth flow of industry and supply chains. Moreover, it introduced a series of supporting policies to ensure smooth industrial production.
Thanks to those efforts, the industrial added value above designated size of Shenzhen last year increased by 4.8% year on year, higher than the growth rate of Guangdong province and the whole country.
Last year, industrial investment in Shenzhen exceeded 160 billion yuan, an increase of 19.2%, ranking first in Guangdong for four consecutive years. Its technological transformation investment was nearly 70 billion yuan, ranking first in Guangdong for two consecutive years.
In 2022, investment in automobile manufacturing rose by 325%, while investment in computers, communications and other electronic equipment rose 23.1%.
Shenzhen will continue to focus on boosting its manufacturing industry to enhance the industry’s competitiveness and influence in the world.
