Forum encourages Greater Bay Area to pilot reforms in statistics
The 1st Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Statistics Forum was held in Shenzhen on Dec. 15.
Parallel conferences were held at venues in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao, attracting statistics officials, experts and scholars from across the country. They discussed topics related to the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), research into statistical theories, statistical practices as well as statistical reform and innovation.
GBA statistics departments were encouraged to carry out more research on statistical accounting of carbon emissions, statistical monitoring of the digital economy, statistical accounting of data production factors, calculation of retail sales of services, basic research statistics of enterprises, statistics on the integrated development of strategic emerging industries, statistics on the in-depth integration of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, and statistics on high-quality urban development. The goal is to provide more experience from the GBA for the national statistical reform and development.
At the end of last year, the National Bureau of Statistics signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Shenzhen, giving the city reform tasks to carry out to modernize statistics.
This forum is expected to continuously promote statistical exchanges and cooperation in the GBA and to develop more statistical reform practices and experience.
