Shenzhen ranks among China's most creative cities
Shenzhen ranked No. 3 among all Chinese cities in terms of creativity, after Beijing and Shanghai, according to the 2022 Chinese City Creativity Index (CCCI) released on Dec. 4.
The top 10 cities on the list were the same as last year. The other seven were Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Chengdu, Chongqing, Suzhou and Nanjing.
The spirit of innovation has become the soul of Shenzhen's culture and innovation has become the catalyst for the development of Shenzhen's cultural industry.
In addition, the proportion of cultural investment in fiscal expenditure and the added value of the cultural industry in Shenzhen also ranked among the top, showing the thriving cultural vibe of the city and its quick and quality development of cultural undertakings.
The CCCI is the first cultural industry competitiveness index comparing cities in China. It has been released for 11 consecutive years. This year, the research team evaluated 50 large and medium-sized cities in China. They have also assessed 11 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) for four consecutive years and formed the GBA City Creativity Index report.
The research shows that the creativity indexes of Chinese cities have been steadily improving, and more and more cities are taking the development of cultural industries as an important strategic pillar of urban construction and development.
It also shows that the GBA has strong consumer demand and excellent development opportunities, prospect and momentum to support the growth of its cultural industries.
