Shenzhen eyes opportunities in marine economy development
The 2022 China Ocean Economy Expo and Shenzhen International Ocean Week opened in Shenzhen on Nov. 24.
Wang Hong, chief of the State Oceanic Administration, Zhang Hu, vice-governor of Guangdong, Shenzhen Party chief Meng Fanli, Shenzhen mayor Qin Weizhong, and other senior officials of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Guangdong province attended the opening ceremony.
Wang said that it is hoped that all relevant parties can use the Maritime Expo platform to create opportunities by opening-up and solving difficulties through cooperation. Together, they can promote the high-quality development of the global marine economy, achieve higher levels of mutual benefit and win-win results, and make more remarkable contributions to the well-being of humanity.
Zhang Hu saidthat the gross marine product of Guangdong ranked first in the country for 27 years. The province has become one of the country's essential growth poles and core areas of marine economic development. Guangdong pays more attention to the coordination of land and sea development, the harmony between the sea and humanity, and gives priority to the innovation-driven development of the marine economy through science and technology.
He said that Guangdong constantly improves the professionalization, marketization, internationalization and brand effects of the sea expo, vigorously promotes the high-quality development of the marine economy, and strives to make new and more significant contributions to building the country into a maritime power and promoting international cooperation in the marine economy.
Meng Fanli pointed out that Shenzhen attaches equal importance to marine development and protection, promoting upgrading traditional industries and expanding emerging industries.
Meng said that Shenzhen combines innovation and capital and engages in internal cultivation and external attraction.
"We will continue to accelerate the high-quality development of the marine economy, industry and business, and strive to build Shenzhen into a developed city in marine economy," Meng said.
