Shenzhen strengthens protection of personal information
Shenzhen held a conference on network data security on Nov. 3 to strengthen the protection of personal information.
At the conference, 14 internet companies signed self-discipline letters of commitment and made 10 promises to step up measures for personal information protection.
The municipal authorities vowed to strengthen their law-based regulation of cyberspace and uphold the people-centered development philosophy to form a clean online environment and promote the high-quality development of the city’s digital economy.
According to a statement from the conference, Shenzhen will strictly crack down on violations of laws and regulations that endanger data security and infringe upon citizens' personal information. The city needs to build a secure fence for data protection and promote the benign use of data so that big data can better enable the high-quality development of the digital economy and enhance people's sense of happiness and gains.
