Shenzhen became the first city in the country that had eliminated seriously polluted water in 2019, thanks to a three-year campaign the municipal government carried out to resolve the issue between 2016 and 2019.
The campaign targeted all 159 large-scale seriously polluted water bodies and 1,467 small-scale water bodies in the city. The once-polluted Maozhou and Shenzhen rivers now have the best water quality in history.
Now, Shenzhen has explored a way to effectively deal with polluted water.
