Shenzhen lawmakers to review juvenile-related procuratorial work
Luo Wenzhi, chairman of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen People’s Congress, the city’s legislature, led a team to the Guangming district procuratorate for a fact-finding mission on works related to juveniles.
The purpose of the inspection, which took place on Aug 11, was to prepare for the city lawmakers’ review of the city procuratorate’s relevant work report due at the end of the month.
Shenzhen procuratorial organs have set up specialized agencies for work related to juveniles to improve its crime prevention and assistance mechanism when it comes to young people.
The judicial departments of Shenzhen have processed more than 7,000 criminal cases involving minors as of 2019, potentially saving many underage victims from harm.
Luo pointed out that the protection of minors is a systematic project, which needs the joint efforts of the entire society to promote the integration of judicial protection with family, school, society, and government. The city should also strengthen publicity and education regarding rule of law
for minors, Luo said.
