The Greater Bay Area (GBA) New Productivity Unicorn Enterprise Development Forum was held in Luohu on April 10.
Experts, scholars, officials, representatives of unicorn enterprises and venture capital institutions attended the event jointly hosted by Luohu district government, the China Academy of Productivity Science (CAPS), the Academy of the Greater Bay Area Studies (AGBAS), along with other parties.
One result of the meeting was the publication of a list of GBA new productivity unicorn enterprises.
Jiang Zhenghua, honorary chairman of CAPS, said the GBA would become one of the global city clusters, with the unicorn enterprises pioneering in the development of the small- and medium-sized enterprises.
As representatives of new productivity, they were of vital importance to the development of new technology, new industry, new business and new models.
"We hope the concept of the unicorn enterprise can play a major role in promoting high-quality development of small- and medium-sized enterprises, and the GBA, so they can contribute to the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for National Economic and Social Development and realizing the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035," he said.
Wang Maolin, chief consultant of CAPS, suggested the GBA plan the cultivation of unicorn enterprises as a project, so that, over the next five years, it should at least have 100 of them.
"There should be planning on the part of the government to help the enterprises resolve their difficulties and problems, and create the necessary development environment, so they can have more development opportunities", Wang said.
Shenzhen Deputy Mayor Liu Qingsheng said the city attached great significance to the development of enterprises, and would try its best to improve its business environment.
"Our target is that the business environment of Shenzhen this year can reach the top 20 in the world. Shenzhen intends to become the best choice for startups and investments, and provide unicorn enterprises with the best environment and services," said Liu.
Luohu Party chief Luo Yude said the Luohu district was located in the core zone of the GBA, providing three ports with access to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and was an important link in integrated development of Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Luo said the district hoped to work together with CAPS and the AGBAS to promote the development of the Luohu's productivity.
