Milestone reached in Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway project
The Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway project marked a major milestone on May 20 with the successful installation of the first concrete support beam for the second foundation pit at the western section of Shenguan Tunnel (Section 4). This critical structural achievement has significantly advanced the overall construction timeline.
The completion of this phase is a pivotal step toward ensuring that the project remains on track for full operation by 2028. Once finished, the railway will dramatically reduce travel times between key cities, establishing a powerful new transportation corridor across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
For instance, high-speed rail service will allow passengers to travel between the Qianhai and Shekou Area of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Shenzhen and the Nansha Free Trade Zone in Guangzhou in just 30 minutes.
