Greater Bay Area Business Roundtable explores cross-border dispute resolution
On Feb. 19, the third Roundtable of the Business Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) was held in Hong Kong, focusing on diversified cross-border dispute resolution to support deeper regional integration. The event explored strategies to strengthen coordination and cooperation in foreign-related commercial legal services across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
As one of China’s most open and economically dynamic regions, the GBA boasts a vast economic output, a high concentration of market participants, and frequent business transactions. With increasing regional integration, commercial disputes have also risen, posing new and urgent challenges for the region’s legal framework.
In his speech, Chen Xiaofeng, president of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (Guangdong Chamber of International Commerce), underscored the importance of closer collaboration between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in improving dispute resolution mechanisms and cultivating professional legal talent. He highlighted Guangdong’s efforts in establishing four corporate compliance training demonstration bases and strengthening partnerships with leading legal professionals in Hong Kong and Macao to attract top-tier talent.
Chen also emphasized the need for further cooperation to streamline regulatory alignment and institutional connectivity within the GBA. These efforts aim to enhance the region’s commercial legal services, fostering a more efficient and business-friendly environment.
