New helicopter routes to connect Guangzhou with Hong Kong and Macao
By mid-2025, residents of Guangzhou will have a faster and more convenient way to travel between Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao—by helicopter.
A new vertical takeoff and landing hub is under construction in Haizhu District’s Pazhou, featuring a vertical takeoff and landing pad, a low-altitude flight operation platform and supporting facilities for helicopter services.
Once operational, the first routes will offer direct flights from Pazhou Passenger Port to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, and Macao International Airport. The journey from Pazhou to Baiyun airport will take just nine minutes, while reaching Hong Kong International Airport will take 26 minutes. This greatly reduces travel time, with estimated ticket prices ranging from 450 to 620 yuan.
Guangzhou also plans to expand its low-altitude flight network, connecting Pazhou with Zengcheng, Conghua, and Nansha, as well as other cities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, including Foshan, Dongguan, Jiangmen, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen. The hub is expected to support 100 to 150 flights per day, offering a fast and efficient travel option for business and leisure.
