Talent and education collaboration advances in the Greater Bay Area
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) has made talent cultivation and educational collaboration a cornerstone of its development strategy. Through shared premium courses, co-developed talent programs, and joint laboratories, the region is fostering integration in education, technology, and human resources.
A significant milestone is the groundbreaking of the new University of Macau (UM) campus in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on Dec. 9, 2024. Scheduled to open in 2028, this expansion builds on UM’s success since its relocation from a 0.05-square-kilometer Taipa campus to its current 1.09-square-kilometer Hengqin site a decade ago. The university now operates three national key laboratories and serves approximately 13,500 students.
