On Aug. 15, China celebrated its second National Ecology Day in Hong Kong, where a related seminar also took place. During the event, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Shenzhen Municipal Government signed the "Cooperative Framework Agreement for the Enhancement of the Wutong Mountain (Shenzhen)—Robin's Nest (Hong Kong) Ecological Corridor." This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two regions in ecological connectivity and biodiversity conservation.
Robin's Nest Country Park, established on March 1, covers approximately 530 hectares in Sha Tau Kok, New Territories, and borders Shenzhen's Wutong Mountain Scenic Area to the north. It is Hong Kong's 25th country park. The Wutong Mountain Scenic Area, established in 1989, spans 42.04 square kilometers with a forest coverage rate of 83.9%. It is a national-level scenic area characterized by urban landscapes, featuring coastal, mountainous, and natural vegetation as its main elements.
The signing of this agreement will foster deeper, higher-level, and broader cooperation and exchange between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in natural resource management and ecological conservation.
