Hong Kong-Macao-Shenzhen film directors exchange meeting held
On Monday, the Hong Kong-Macao-Shenzhen Film Directors Exchange Meeting, a highlight of the "Luohu Hong Kong-Shenzhen Cultural Month," was held at KK One in Luohu District.
With the theme "Innovation in Film Directing: Revitalizing the Soul of Cinema," film industry professionals from Hong Kong, Macao, and Shenzhen gathered to share their creative insights and industry experiences to enhance professional skills and promote the development of the film and cultural industries in the region.
The event featured notable directors such as Hong Kong's Lee Lik-chi, Macao's Flower Tin Leong, and Shenzhen's Blue Hung-chun. They discussed the rich cultural resources and creative talents in the three regions, emphasizing the synergy between traditional and modern influences in Luohu as a source of artistic inspiration and film production settings.
Lee Lik-chi, known for directing beloved classics like "King of Comedy," "The God of Cookery," "Shaolin Soccer," and "Flirting Scholar," highlighted the complexity and artistry involved in creating comedy films.
In recent years, Shenzhen's film industry has seen significant growth in box office revenues. Supportive policies, including special funds for cultural industry development and measures to promote high-quality growth in the cultural and entertainment sectors, have played a crucial role. The Shenzhen Film Industry Association has also established a task force to support low-budget film projects, reviewing numerous scripts and guiding the production of several successful films.
At the event, the recently announced measures to support high-quality development in the film industry in Luohu sparked lively discussions. Many industry professionals viewed these policies, which include incentives for film distribution and production, as a significant boost for the local film industry. The Guangdong Film Creation Training Base, established in Luohu in September 2021, continues to promote local films nationally and internationally.
