Refurbished Gongbei Port main hall in operation
On March 15th, the main joint inspection building of Gongbei Port resumed operations following the completion of renovations and construction in the immigration hall.
Gongbei Port stands as the nation's largest land port in terms of passenger flow and serves as a pivotal civilian gateway connecting Zhuhai and Macau. Since the start of this year, the average daily passenger flow has peaked at 290,000.
The immigration hall of the main joint inspection building, which underwent renovations, was inaugurated on the eve of Macau's return in 1999 and has remained a key inspection site for travelers moving between Zhuhai and Macau.
Following the renovation and upgrade, the spatial layout of passenger waiting areas and inspection zones has been optimized for efficiency. A total of 122 border inspection channels have been established, comprising 90 fast border inspection channels and 32 manual inspection channels. Both hardware and software for inspection have undergone updates. According to Yi Min, the deputy director of the Gongbei Frontier Inspection Station, the upgraded fast inspection channels now boast heightened sensitivity in identification. Beginning with document scanning, the swiftest clearance can now be achieved within 11 seconds.
