Guangdong's foreign trade volume ranks first nationwide
In 2023, Guangdong's imports and exports surged by 0.3% to reach 8.3 trillion yuan, securing the top position in China and constituting 19.9% of the nation's overall foreign trade, as announced in a press conference on January 16.
The province's trade volumes for each quarter in 2023 were as follows: 1.82 trillion yuan in the first quarter, 2.02 trillion yuan in the second quarter, 2.2 trillion yuan in the third quarter, and 2.2 trillion yuan in the fourth quarter.
Guangdong saw a noteworthy 9.4% year-on-year increase in the number of enterprises engaged in import and export activities, surpassing 130,000. Notably, the imports and exports of private enterprises amounted to 5.04 trillion yuan, representing over 60% of the province's total foreign trade.
The Greater Bay Area's nine cities collectively achieved an import and export volume of 7.95 trillion yuan, contributing to 19% of the nation's total. Guangdong's strategic focus on industrial transformation has yielded new growth drivers, with exports of lithium-ion batteries, solar cells, and electric vehicles witnessing a substantial 33.7% increase.
In 2023, the province exported agricultural products worth 13.091 billion yuan, reflecting a significant 13.3% year-on-year growth and constituting 18.8% of the nation's total agricultural product exports.
Furthermore, customs services in Guangdong have been upgraded to facilitate exports, incorporating features such as advance application, prioritized inspections, and online certificate issuance.
