Governor of California chooses the GBA as first stop of his China visit
Governor of California Gavin Newsom began his official week-long visit to China on Oct. 23, choosing his first stop as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
On Oct. 23, Newsom began his visit with a climate-themed discussion at the University of Hong Kong, discussing the challenges posed by the climate crisis with teachers and students.
On Oct. 24, Newsom visited a bus depot in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, where he took a test ride in an electric SUV built by Chinese conglomerate BYD. On the same day, relevant departments from Guangdong and California signed a memorandum of understanding on deepening green development cooperation, with the two sides agreeing to strengthen collaboration relating to the carbon market and carbon trading as well as climate investment and financing.
