Shenzhen-HK travel boosts cross-regional consumption
Shenzhen ports recently achieved a significant milestone, exceeding 100 million passengers this year, with a daily average of approximately 400,000 passengers. Data reveals that Chinese mainland residents constitute around 35% of the total users, while Hong Kong and Macao residents account for approximately 63%.
Since the full resumption of cross-regional travel on Feb. 6, exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong have intensified. Total daily passenger volume peaked at over 770,000, with Futian Port recording a single-day peak of over 213,000 passengers and Shenzhen Bay Port surpassing 120,000 passengers. These figures represent the highest daily passenger flow since the ports’ reopening.
The expanding consumption scenarios in Shenzhen offer a diverse range of options for Hong Kong residents, encompassing dining, entertainment, cultural arts, medical healthcare, and customized services. Weekends have witnessed a notable influx of Hong Kong residents crossing the ports, contributing to the emerging trend of a “dual-city lifestyle.”
