GBA talent hub proposed to build ‘HK Silicon Valley’
Peter Lam, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, proposed the Shenzhen-Hong Kong collaborative establishment of a global hub for scientific research talent in the Northern Metropolis of Hong Kong. The hub will aim to build a “Hong Kong Silicon Valley.” The suggestion was made during the third session of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee in Beijing.
Peter Lam proposed further support for the establishment of national laboratories and innovative research institutions in the Northern Metropolis, aiming to enhance regional synergy and attract top talent. He also emphasized the importance of talent fostering and closer integration of education between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland as this can help attract more professionals to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
