Shenzhen contributes to integrated development of the Greater Bay Area
Since the Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was issued in 2019, Shenzhen has been promoting the integration of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into national development.
Statistics show that Shenzhen has invested more than 200 million yuan ($29.1 million) since 2019 in Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao science and technology projects, with 97.3 million yuan invested in cross-border scientific research activities.
In addition, six Hong Kong universities have set up a total of 88 laboratories or research and development centers in Shenzhen that are highly compatible with local industries, incubating 265 technology enterprises.
Over recent years, focusing on the modern service industry, Qianhai in Shenzhen has continued to expand the scope of mutual recognition of professional qualifications between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, and facilitated cross-border practices for professionals between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao. At present, the registered practice scope of professionals from Hong Kong and Macao in Qianhai has been expanded to 18 categories.
Many ports connecting Shenzhen and Hong Kong, including Luohu Port and Liantang Port, are being upgraded to meet the rising transport demands. Some are joining with the development of the Northern Metropolis of Hong Kong.
In addition, Shenzhen is speeding up its efforts to build a smooth and interconnected transport system to form a “one-hour life circle” with other major cities in the Greater Bay Area.
