China-Europe freight train services boost regional trade
On Jan. 31, a China-Europe freight train carrying food, household appliances, electronic components set out from Guangdong province and will arrive in Almaty, Kazakhstan in 15 days.
This is the 60th trip made by China-Europe Freight trains this year in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and 2,200th trip since China Railway Guangzhou Group launched China-Europe freight train services in 2016.
The cargo transported from the Greater Bay Area to Europe through the services has amounted to 1.13 million tons in 235,000 twenty-foot equivalent units.
Over recent years, high-value products such as electronic equipment, machinery, new energy vehicles have taken a much larger share in the region’s exports through the services.
The rapid development of the region’s cross-border e-commerce industry has also boosted demand for China-Europe freight train services, which save two-thirds of the time compared to sea transportation and 40% of the cost compared to air transportation.
