Guangdong and Hong Kong to strengthen cooperation in various fields
A video conference on deepening cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong convened on Sept. 1 focused on deepening collaboration between the two sides and advancing the construction and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Li Xi, secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC, urged the two sides to strengthen their connections in rules, institutions, cultural exchanges, logistics, funds, and information, as well as deepen cooperation in technology and industry, accelerate the construction of big cooperation platforms, expand cooperation on improving people's livelihoods, and continuously improve pandemic prevention and control.
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive John Lee said he appreciated Guangdong's support for Hong Kong's development and vowed to further integrate Guangdong-Hong Kong cooperation mechanisms and strengthen cooperation in pandemic prevention and control, including the development of the northern region of Hong Kong. He shall also strive to boost innovation, science and technology, finance, trade and commerce, youth employment, entrepreneurship and internship, and legal settlement of disputes and logistics. He said Hong Kong would actively support the development of Nansha in Guangzhou and Qianhai in Shenzhen to expand the space for development in Hong Kong.
Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong pointed out that the two sides should convene a joint conference to roll out a specific to-do list and relevant implementation measures to ensure concrete progress can be made in the aforementioned fields in the foreseeable future.
