Innovation summit contributes to development of Greater Bay Area
The first Global Innovation and Technology Summit of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held at the Hong Kong Science Park on Aug 11.
Scholars and researchers from home and abroad took part in the event, which was held both online and offline, discussing topics related to Hong Kong’s future development in the field of innovation and development.
They also proposed suggestions on how to promote innovation-driven development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) as well as build an influential science and technology exchange platform in the region.
In his address at the summit, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government will try to build Hong Kong into an international center for innovation and technology, and advance the regional cooperation across the GBA.
Wang Zhigang, minister of science and technology, pointed out that the Ministry of Science and Technology will as always support the construction of the GBA into an international innovation center, and better tap into the complementarity qualities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in innovation and technology.
