Luohu’s Acting Mayor Fan Defan participated in group discussions for the Dongmen, Guiyuan and Qingshuihe delegations the afternoon of Nov. 3, on the sidelines of the first conference of the 8th Luohu People’s Congress, the district’s legislature.
The group discussions were an opportunity for local deputies to discuss their opinions and share suggestions regarding Luohu’s economic development, industrial layout and public works.
The deputies all said that the government work report Fan delivered during the opening of the legislature’s conference objectively reflected the achievements of Luohu's economic and social development over the past five years, and that it was inspiring.
They said the goals and main objectives that the report outlines for the next five years are not only clear and reasonable, but are also in line with the practical conditions on the ground in Luohu.
They added that they will always adhere to the sacred mission of people’s congress deputies, and faithfully fulfill those duties to realize the high-quality development of the district.
Throughout the dialogues, Fan fully affirmed the representatives’ views.
He pointed out that the general goal is to transform Luohu into a leading urban area for socialist modernization and sustainable development. To achieve this, government departments will accelerate the development of their respective sectors and upgrade the quality of their services, promote urban renovation projects, and build the district into a comprehensive hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
He said that the recently concluded 8th Luohu Congress of the Communist Party of China established key tasks for the district’s socioeconomic development over the next five years, and that the deputies should fulfill their duties accordingly.
Moreover, Fan said that the government work report highlights three main points. The first is the positioning and planning of Luohu’s industries. Over the next five years, Luohu will promote transformative industrial works, as well as scientific and technological innovation, and urban renovation.
The second point is a strategy to promote the integrated development of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. For this, the district government will pursue breakthroughs in two aspects, and make Luohu an exemplary player in the integrated development of Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
The third is about the district’s work to improve its business environment and the well-being of residents.
According to Fan, Luohu vows to build a world-class business environment within five years, and the district will spare no effort to continue improving its education, medical and health care services, and build more government-subsidized houses for low-income individuals.
Also, the district will improve its ecological conservation, urban management and cultural spaces to make the district a better place to live in, work in and travel.
