During the fourth annual session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), the country’s top legislature, Michael Tien, a deputy to the 13th NPC from the Hong Kong Special Autonomous Region (HKSAR), suggested extending the east line of the MTR light rail from Luohu station further north to cross the Shenzhen River.
This, he said, would facilitate Hong Kong people shuttling between the Chinese mainland and the HKSAR, which can bring more convenience to their life and work.
Also, he suggested the central authorities should approve Hong Kong’s Octopus card to be used on the mainland, which will be an important step to realize interconnection of municipal traffic between the mainland and the HKSAR.
