Luohu unveils action plan for AI development
On Aug. 23, the Science and Industrial Information Technology Bureau of Luohu District released an action plan to promote district's artificial intelligence (AI) development. The plan outlines ten key initiatives, including the establishment of specialized industrial parks, the launch of innovation centers, the creation of a supply-demand matchmaking platform, the development of demonstration application scenarios, the setup of a seed fund, and the coordination of intelligent computing resources.
Today, rapidly advancing digital technologies like AI, big data, blockchain, and cloud computing are pivotal drivers of global economic growth. As a pioneering district of reform and opening up, Luohu has actively embraced strategic emerging industries, including next-generation information technology, biopharmaceuticals, and new materials, continuously fostering innovation and injecting new vitality into its economic development.
Luohu has seen a significant rise in the number of relevant enterprises, with a year-on-year increase of 19.69% in 2023, representing a 141.24% growth compared to 2018. The industrial value added in 2023 increased by 84.23% compared to 2018.
As of the second quarter of 2024, Luohu is home to 84 AI enterprises above designated size, with revenue from January to May showing a year-on-year increase of 14.1%. The district has established 34 innovative AI platforms, including the Guangdong Provincial Software-Defined Internet of Things (SDIoT) Engineering Technology Research Center and the Guangdong Provincial Urban Disaster Digital Twin Laboratory.
Luohu also offers diverse application scenarios for AI. In urban governance, AI has been integrated into nearly 1,500 video feeds across the district, enabling intelligent recognition of 24 types of scenarios, with the average response time reduced to under two hours. In healthcare, the district has implemented an AI-based digital pathology solution, creating a comprehensive platform integrating regional pathology information management, central storage, and AI-assisted diagnostic services. In the commerce sector, AI applications provide market information, intelligent traceability, smart financing, and customer service solutions.
